Housing Development

Preservation, Development and Operation

RBSCC has been responsible for the development of over 3,000 units of affordable housing, ranging from single-family homes to scattered site rehabs to large mixed use developments.   Through various home ownership programs, RBSCC has been responsible for the sponsorship and marketing of over 1,200 units to first time homebuyers. With an even greater focus on rental opportunities, RBSCC currently manages over 1,800 affordable units that provide permanent housing for low- to moderate-income families and senior citizens, including a host of special needs populations like formerly homeless families, veterans, physically disabled, and victims of domestic violence.

The Housing Department has also completed the gut rehabilitation of over 600 units in over 100 buildings scattered throughout the community.  Additionally, RBSCC's premier project, the redevelopment of the former Rheingold Brewery site, resulted in almost 500 affordable home ownership and rentals units in addition to community facility and retail opportunities.  Recognized throughout the city for excellence in design, the Rheingold Brewery redevelopment also received the Northeast Region Phoenix Award for Excellence in Brownfield Redevelopment from the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
